STORYLINE:
Heavy rainfall will continue to batter a large portion of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China, weather forecasters said on Tuesday.
China's National Meteorological Center renewed a red alert for heavy rainfall, the most severe alert in the country's weather warning system.
Floods have occurred in several rivers.
Rescue and evacuation efforts are underway in multiple flood-hit areas.
In low-lying rural areas of Hangzhou City, east China's Zhejiang Province, a mother who had just given birth was transferred with her family to a safe place.
