Onlookers ran to safety when a landslide plunged onto a road in China.

Footage shows mud, rocks and trees crashing onto the Yushan Highway Development Centre of Shangrao City in Jiangxi province on June 27.

According to a statement by theYushan County Media Integration Centre, the landslide happened due to heavy rainfall close to the Maple Leaf Section of Yushan County Zihu Town S202 Provincial Road at 1:15 pm.

They said that because geological disaster monitoring equipment was installed here in advance and a guard post was set up, the monitoring equipment issued an early warning at 12:45 pm on the same day, and the on-site staff quickly blocked and controlled the dangerous area of ​​the road, and no vehicles were trapped or casualties occurred.

They said staff in Yushan County organised rescue operations and traffic restarted 24 hours after the landslide.
