Onlookers run to safety as massive landslide covers road
Onlookers ran to safety when a landslide plunged onto a road in China.
Footage shows mud, rocks and trees crashing onto the Yushan Highway Development Centre of Shangrao City in Jiangxi province on June 27.
According to a statement by theYushan County Media Integration Centre, the landslide happened due to heavy rainfall close to the Maple Leaf Section of Yushan County Zihu Town S202 Provincial Road at 1:15 pm.
They said that because geological disaster monitoring equipment was installed here in advance and a guard post was set up, the monitoring equipment issued an early warning at 12:45 pm on the same day, and the on-site staff quickly blocked and controlled the dangerous area of the road, and no vehicles were trapped or casualties occurred.
They said staff in Yushan County organised rescue operations and traffic restarted 24 hours after the landslide.
