"Good neighbors are better than close relatives," Kazakh lawyer Gulnur Nurkeyeva has described the relations between China and Kazakhstan as "good neighbors" given the fruitful cooperation results that have been achieved over the past decade.

"We are neighbors, and we have another saying that good neighbor (is) better than close relative.
China (is) as being the biggest economy in the world. And Kazakhstan, as one of these Central Asia countries, (is) still on the way to its development.
And I believe that within the last 10 years, Kazakh people more and more realize how developed China is and how is China sharing now his experience in this area.
Now, the perception of people in Central Asia changed towards Chinese investment, towards quality of Chinese investment, towards the projects implemented by Chinese investors, and it's a really good sign."

Nurkeyeva believes that the prospect of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) cooperation will be brighter and nourish the China-Kazakhstan relationship.

"Now as a function of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, it's far more than just security of these countries.
It goes much more deeper for cultural development, for political development, for development of diplomacy, and which is most important from point of view of ordinary people, I would say that. It is more about economic development at this point.
In education, we have lots of scholarships. I personally enjoyed the scholarship of Chinese government on doing my PhD in China.
And this cultural educational development, this scholarship provided by Chinese government to Kazakhstan's new students, and it will give results for the long, long period of China-Kazakhstan relationship in the nearest future."
