Spain: Hiker Evacuated After Ankle Injury Near Estanes Lake
Huesca, Spain - July 08, 2024
In a coordinated rescue effort, the Guardia Civil responded to a distress call on July 7 at 2:17 p.m., reporting a hiker with a sprained ankle along the GR11 path near Estanes lake, in Anso municipality. The rescue operation involved the GREIM team from Jaca, the air unit from Huesca, and a doctor from 061.
Following an aerial survey of the area, the injured hiker, identified as a 59-year-old man from Castellon province, was located and provided immediate medical attention. He was subsequently airlifted to Jaca heliport, where an awaiting ambulance transferred him to Jaca hospital for further treatment.
