STORYLINE:
Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty said Egypt had spared no effort in supporting the flow of humanitarian aid across the Gaza Strip's Rafah crossing.
Abdelatty discussed the strip's humanitarian situation with Sigrid Kaag, UN Senior Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction for Gaza on Thursday.
The minister said Israeli control over the Palestinian side of the Rafah crossing caused the movement of aid supplies to be suspended.
He asserted the need for Israeli withdrawal from Rafah and for Palestinian operation of the border crossing.
On her part, the UN coordinator thanked Egypt for its continuous efforts to address Gaza's humanitarian crisis.
