Excited tourists make a splash collecting fish on beach
Footage shows how hundreds of fish scrambled to the shore and tourists happily rushed to pick them up and throw them onto the beach to later collect, keen to cash in on the easy catch.
Tourists in Guangdong Province, China, observed the fish jumping onto the shore and eagerly picked them up on July 13.
Both locals and visitors were excited by the unusual sight and quickly collected the fish using various methods. Some used their hands while others used basins to gather the fish.
One tourist mentioned catching around ten kilograms of fish, expressing surprise at the unique experience.
The event was a rare occurrence for the tourists, who were delighted to witness such a phenomenon for the first time.
Experts say that this type of behaviour with the fish jumping out of the water could be caused by the presence of a large predator in the water, or a change in water quality like a fall in oxygen, pollution or water temperature, and in some fish species, it can also be caused by spawning behaviour.
