Chinese man surfs behind car on flooded streets during heavy rainfall
On July 26, Shenyang, northern China, has been hit by heavy rainfall, causing severe flooding in various parts of the city. Amidst this weather, a man chose an unconventional mode of travel—surfing behind a car on waterlogged streets. This unusual sight quickly went viral online, sparking widespread attention and discussion.
Witnesses reported that on July 26, some roads in Shenyang were submerged under water up to a metre deep, creating river-like conditions. The young man, dressed in a raincoat and boots, bravely followed behind moving vehicles, using the water's flow and the vehicle's momentum to surf.
While some residents admired his boldness, with one saying, "It's impressive he could come up with such an idea in this weather," others cautioned, "Safety first, don't risk your life."
Experts warned that floodwaters could contain pollutants and bacteria, posing health risks. Additionally, dangerous activities like street surfing can lead to accidents. They advised the public to choose safe routes and methods of travel during such conditions and to avoid wading through flooded areas or engaging in risky behaviour.
