Paris, France - July 25, 2024

In a bold move moments ago, two supporters of PETA U.K. interrupted a star-studded Paris Olympics kick-off party to denounce Pharrell Williams, host and Louis Vuitton's men's creative director, for his controversial use of wild-animal skins and fur in fashion collections. The protestors held signs reading "Pharrell: Stop Killing Animals for Fashion" in front of an audience that included luminaries such as Anna Wintour, Charlize Theron, Serena Williams, and LeBron James, before security escorted them out.

This action is part of PETA's broader campaign targeting Louis Vuitton's parent company, LVMH, a sponsor of the Olympic Games, urging them to cease using fur and wild-animal skins.

"PETA condemns Pharrell's role in perpetuating animal cruelty for the sake of fashion," stated PETA U.K. Vice President of Corporate Projects Yvonne Taylor. "Our investigations have uncovered horrific practices in Indonesian slaughterhouses supplying LVMH, including snakes being inflated with water, bludgeoned with hammers, and cut with razors while likely conscious."
