Strict building managers have installed timers on toilet doors to stop women from spending too long in the loos.

Communist chiefs unleashed the system to reduce long waiting times due to the limited number of toilets and the thousands of tourists visiting the Yungang Grottoes cave complex in Shanxi, China.

Footage shows screens above the doors displaying how long a person has been inside each cubicle, with red indicating occupancy and green showing availability on June 4.

A monitor screen outside the restroom allows visitors to see which stalls are occupied.

The Yungang Grottoes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, features 1,600-year-old caves and ancient stone sculptures.
