This is the heartwarming moment a group of kind motorists stopped traffic to help a family of chickens cross a busy road.

A pedestrian spotted a mother hen and her five chicks scurrying across Upper Thomson Road towards the other side of the motorway in Singapore.

This prompted the driver of a small lorry to come to a halt and extend his arm to alert oncoming vehicles to stop on the morning of January 23.

Footage shows two motorists coming into a halt in front of the visibly frantic bird while her black chicks follow close behind.

The men then gently guided the animals towards safety before driving away.

The passerby who witnessed the kind act recalled that the chickens had initially started to cross when there were no vehicles around.

He said: 'The lights were red, so there were no vehicles coming and they were peacefully crossing the road.

'I found it so cute and was taking a video when suddenly the lights turned green. All the vehicles started coming towards them, which made me anxious, but then those kind people stepped in and made my day. It started my day with such positive energy.'
