A coffee shop run by a Chinese-Tanzanian couple has become a popular place in the old city area of Kashgar, in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

While brewing a perfect cup of coffee, they love to tell customers and online followers the story of how they found love despite being thousands of miles apart.

"We opened this coffee shop in 2023. The business is getting better and better. People like to drink our coffee."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): DILSHAT TURSUN, Coffee shop owner
"Making coffee is a very enjoyable thing for me. My wife Hadiya (is) from Tanzania. We met each other in college. Now we came back to my hometown Kashgar to open a coffee bar. We are trying to make this business better day by day. There are a lot of customers. They know us online."

The couple is planning to import more high-quality beans from Tanzania and other African countries to Kashgar and other cities.

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): HADIYA MSHAM ABDULLA, Coffee shop owner
"Our coffee beans are from Africa. That is from Tanzania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, from East Africa where I am from. It's interesting because the coffee beans are from Africa, and we are in Kashgar. So it's two beautiful cultures mixed together in our one cup. We are looking for someone who can take more coffee beans from Africa to China."
