Fiery crash in Chinese tunnel is captured on camera
A fiery crash in a Chinese tunnel was captured on camera as vehicles collided and caused explosions.
The collision happened at Wutong Tunnel on the G60 Shanghai-Kunming Expressway in Guizhou province, China, and resulted in two deaths.
Dashcam footage shows a vehicle clipping a truck, which resulted in a blast on August 14, just 100 metres into the tunnel. The crash triggered multiple explosions, causing a fire that generated thick smoke within the confined space.
Smoke billowed at the scene, spreading outside the tunnel, and drivers and passengers began to evacuate the tunnel one after another.
The emergency services responded promptly to the scene. Two individuals were killed, whose identities have not been disclosed.
Authorities from the traffic police of Qianxinan Prefecture confirmed the fatalities and initiated emergency rescue operations.
