Footage shows a 'sick' dove failing to fly when it was released during Independence Day celebrations in India.

Local officials made the embarrassing fail while taking part in the the event in Mungeli district, Chhattisgarh, on August 15

A white bird symbolising peace and independence was released by BJP MLA and former minister Punnulal Mohle, Collector Rahul Deo, and Superintendent of Police Girija Shankar Jaiswal.

While the MLA's dove flew away successfully, the SP's creature crashed to the ground.

Following the incident, the SP called for disciplinary action against those responsible.

In a letter to the Collector, the SP expressed concern over the incident being widely shared.

The letter stressed the need for proper planning and execution of the Independence Day program.

It was noted that the officer responsible for the bird release did not perform their duties effectively.

Disciplinary measures are recommended for the officer in question.
