The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. in the 4500 block of Pacific Boulevard. Multiple agencies responded, including the Los Angeles County Fire Department, BNSF Railroad, and the Vernon Police Department.
Several railroad cars derailed, with one car nearly tipping onto its side. There was a strong odor of ethanol in the area, raising concerns about a potential hazardous materials spill. Hazmat crews were at the scene, assessing the situation and working to contain any spillage.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the derailment and monitoring the area for any health or environmental impacts.
