This is the amazing moment a skydiver caught his hat that had fallen off one handed while at 2,000 feet.

Evan Santangelo was jumping over Texas, USA, in August when his propellor hat fell off at around 3,500feet.

Cool footage – which has been viewed 2.9million times – showed the 31-year-old wheeling his canopy in the sky in an attempt to catch the cap before it hit the ground.

After a few frustrating near misses, Evan, who is a veteran of 1,500 jumps, manager to catch the cat with his right hand before ecstatically putting it back on his head.

Evan said: “After it fell off, I turned around and noticed it was falling at about the same rate and knew I had to try and grab it.

“It took me a few attempts to circle around and figure out what line I needed to fly to get to it.

“Some people say it could've caused issues with my parachute if it hit it. This is an extremely unrealistic assumption.

“If I were to hit a vulture or something that weighs more than 10lbs, yeah that could cause issues. But a small hat is extremely unlikely to cause any issues.

“Worst case it hits my parachute or lines and bounces off. Even the propellor on the hat was extremely dull which I had examined before the jump.

“I was excited. It’s just a hat but it was a sense of accomplishment in my own canopy skills. I couldn’t wait to show the world.

“It would’ve been dangerous if there were other people in the sky. However, I was one of three people on the plane. The other two had landed well before I even lost the hat.

“I watched them land so I knew I was the only one in the sky. It was unintentional but a hat falling on something is extremely unlikely to cause any damage.”
