China's authentic, grassroots democratic model can serve as a reference to develop independent democratic systems, said Cuban expert Jose Luis Robaina.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Spanish): JOSE LUIS ROBAINA, Researcher at the Cuban Center for International Policy Research (CIPI)
"First of all, it's (China's democracy) authentic, real, not just fanfare like what is seen in the West. It is participatory, from the grassroots election process to the consultation phase, inclusive, because people of all types, all ways of thinking, all tendencies, even of all tendencies, participate. It's an alternative model, useful for others, which can serve as a reference for those interested in establishing an independent, democratic political system that truly helps their country develop and not depend on foreign powers."
Robaina also noted that China has never used aggression for resources and promotes a balanced global order by advocating respect, non-interference, and peaceful resolution.
SOUNDBITE 2 (Spanish): JOSE LUIS ROBAINA, Researcher at the Cuban Center for International Policy Research (CIPI)
"China does not have a single case of aggression against a country to plunder its natural resources. Not a single case exists. China has proposed a series of initiatives to seek a balanced global order, aiming for a shared world. A world of shared respect, without interference in internal affairs, without aggression, negotiating the differences that are inevitable between countries. China has always maintained a foreign policy that promotes peace, cooperation, non-interference in internal affairs, and negotiation of disputes between countries."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Havana.
