Footage shows dozens of brand-new cars destroyed when the massive transporter carrying them to a car showroom overturned.

The video, captured on a motorway in the province of Shaanxi in China on September 17, reveals the huge transporter toppling over on the road, dumping several cars into the fast lane and completely blocking the route.

Other vehicles were thrown into the opposite lane of the motorway, blocking traffic that went in the other direction.

By the time this video was taken, the cars in the opposite lane had been moved onto the hard shoulder, but the part of the Shaanxi Yinkun Expressway heading in the other direction remained completely blocked with wrecked vehicles and the massive lorry.

Emergency services were on the scene to clear the wreckage, but traffic had already stretched for miles as cleanup continued.

All the damaged vehicles were brand-new BYD cars, which is a publicly listed Chinese multinational manufacturing company that makes passenger battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, collectively known as new energy vehicles in China.

Most vehicle transports are covered by Road Freight Carrier Liability Insurance, and it is expected that the manufacturer will have these losses reimbursed.
