As Hurricane Helene's remnants wreak havoc, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) has launched a dramatic response to the flooding besieging the Town 'n' Country area. With Hillsborough Avenue becoming a waterway rather than a thoroughfare, the community witnessed firsthand the HCSO's innovative use of technology in disaster response.

In what has been described as an unprecedented deployment for the region, the Sheriff's Office has brought out their SherpATV, an amphibious all-terrain vehicle, to navigate through the high waters that have transformed local streets into rivers. "This vehicle is our lifeline right now," commented Sheriff Chad Chronister during a brief media interaction. "When traditional methods fail, we have to think outside the box to reach those in need."

The flooding, a direct result of Helene's heavy rainfall combined with storm surge, has left Town 'n' Country residents stranded and desperate for assistance. Reports from the scene indicate water levels reaching up to seven feet in certain areas, turning homes into islands and making conventional rescue operations nearly impossible.
