In a dramatic incident on August 14, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's K9 Section and Aviation Section responded to assist the Street Crimes Unit in pursuit of Tynan Hutchinson, 24, a known felon. Hutchinson had evaded a traffic stop, leading authorities on a reckless chase onto the Selmon Expressway in Tampa.

The Tampa Police Department also joined the pursuit, during which Hutchinson attempted to ram one of their vehicles. Utilizing aerial surveillance, the Sheriff's Aviation Section tracked Hutchinson to a U-Haul parking lot on West Gandy Boulevard, where he attempted to evade capture by hiding inside a parked U-Haul vehicle.
