Nehru Trophy Boat Race kicks off with grandeur at Kerala's Alappuzha
70th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race generated immense excitement as people from different states across India flocked to Alappuzha, Kerala, to witness this spectacular event. The race has drawn large crowds who gathered to cheer for the competing teams. Reportedly, 74 boats participated in this historic race.
Each year, spectators come in large numbers to witness nearly 100-foot-long boats battling it out on the waters, moving in sync with the traditional boat songs. This year, 19 snake boats, known as Chundan Valloms competed.
Held on the tranquil Punnamada Lake, the race promised a grand celebration of tradition, sportsmanship, and cultural unity. This year, the excitement was palpable as spectators from various corners of the country, from the northern plains to the southern coasts, came together, eager to experience one of Kerala's most iconic sporting events. The Karichal Chundan won the much-anticipated 70th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race this year.
