Baby hippo climbs in gardening cart to go for a ride
This is the amusing moment a baby hippo climbs into a gardening cart for a ride.
Khaki, a seven-month-old male hippo, accompanied his busy keeper, who was cleaning its enclosure in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, on October 3.
Footage shows the animal hopping onto the two-wheeled trolley. The keeper briefly moved it around, waiting for the young water horse to step off, but it slipped on the platform and slid its hind legs to the ground as it stepped back.
Pygmy hippos, native to West Africa, are classified as endangered due to habitat loss and hunting. Fewer than 3,000 are believed to remain in the wild.
The plight of the creatures has been highlighted by captive baby hippo Moo Deng, who has become a hit for her adorable antics at the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi, eastern Thailand.
A hippo is sometimes known as a river horse as the name 'hippopotamus' comes from the ancient Greek words 'hippos', meaning 'horse', and 'potamos', meaning 'river'.
