A friendly squirrel visits a family's window every day for food - becoming an extended member of the family.

The rodent climbs up the apartment block and waits outside the fifth-floor room so the kind residents can give it snacks in urban jungle Bangkok in Thailand.

Footage taken over several days shows the sweet-natured critter crawling on top of an outdoor aircon unit to feast on nuts and fruit left by Mutcee Bunpeng.

It enjoyed the free meal of sliced orange, kiwi, peanuts, and assorted berries while the homeowners did chores in the living room.

Mutcee said: ‘I used to only give food to the squirrel, but my friends told me to have a bowl of water too, and I did. He comes back every day and is so friendly. He is like one of the family now.'

Squirrels are generally considered intelligent, especially when it comes to problem-solving and memory. They often bury nuts and other food for the cold season and can remember the locations of many of these caches using spatial memory, which shows advanced cognitive ability.
