A local police force is facing a probe by authorities after they failed to investigate a taxi driver who was caught on video beating up a female passenger and dragging her out of the car onto the street after the two had argued during the ride.

The incident occurred in the city of Balashikha, in the Moscow Region, Russia, on 27th September, when an unnamed was returning home by taxi from Moscow. During the trip, a verbal conflict arose between her and the driver.

Suddenly, the driver stopped the vehicle and walked out, then went over to the back seat and attacked the woman.

CCTV footage shows him beating the woman and then forcefully dragging her out of the car, leaving her on the street.

After that, he returned to the driver's seat and drove off.
The victim sought medical attention and filed a complaint with the police about the assault, but the police were unable to locate the taxi driver. The Investigative Committee has launched an investigation into the police under the article concerning abuse of authority.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Moscow Region said it has opened a criminal case against the man and that he will be charged with hooliganism based on Article 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

It also said it would investigate the local police for charges of abuse of official powers under Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
