On October 9, an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon known as a "waterspout" occurred over Qinghai Lake in Hainan Prefecture, Qinghai.

According to video footage captured by onlookers, a twisting white column of water appeared on the surface of Qinghai Lake, stretching up into the clouds, as if connecting the sky and the lake. The powerful water column spiraled upwards, resembling a dragon, creating a breathtaking sight.

The waterspout lasted for around ten minutes. Local resident Mr. Dong, who has lived near Qinghai Lake for decades, said this was the first time he had witnessed such a spectacle up close and was left in awe.

The "waterspout," as referred to in meteorology, is a type of tornado that occasionally forms over warm water surfaces. It is closely linked to intense convective weather, occurring when strong updrafts combine with warm, moist air, forming a funnel-shaped structure in the clouds that extends down to the water's surface, creating the striking waterspout effect.
