This is the heartwarming moment a pet dog wells up as her family sings 'Happy Birthday' to her.

Tasha, a twelve-year-old and nine-month-old Shih Tzu, celebrated her birthday in Cavite, the Philippines, on October 8.

Footage shows the pooch wearing a green hat and a colourful scarf, leaning on the table. She appears teary-eyed as her owners sing to her.

Pet owner Shaira Guiyab said: 'Every 8th of the month, our family celebrates Tasha's barkday (birthday). We know that dogs have shorter lives than us, so we make sure to cherish every moment we have with her. We really hope to be with her for many more years to come.'
