The ongoing drought in Murcia has left trees ravaged by pests and diseases.

Footage captured on October 15 shows a distressed trunk that was infested by insects

The region is currently facing relentless drought, and the prolonged lack of moisture weakens the tree population, making them susceptible to infestations.

Local media reported that the lack of rainfall has resulted in a massive die-off of trees and shrubs over the past few years.

The Segura basin, the hydrological area that encompasses most of the Region of Murcia, was officially declared to be in a state of 'extraordinary drought' by the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) on March 11.
