Fishermen in Puri, Odisha, took things into their own hands as they captured a crocodile that had been terrorising locals.

Villagers had requested the local forest department to take care of the reptile but no action was taken. This prompted the fishermen to act themselves.

Once captured, the local forest department has been requested to take the crocodile and release it into a safe area.

On 19 October Saturday, fishermen caught a big crocodile in the river in Puri district of Odisha. This crocodile had become a cause of terror for the local people. The fishermen alleged that they requested the forest department several times to capture the crocodile, but no one listened to them. Eventually the fishermen decided to catch the crocodile themselves.

According to reports, a few days ago a huge crocodile was seen in Daya River and then in Makar River in Pipili area of ​​Puri district of Odisha. Since the crocodile was spotted several times at various places in the river, people avoided going to the river for fishing and bathing.

People's livelihood was being affected due to fear of crocodile. Many fishermen depend on these rivers for their livelihood. So, they were waiting for the forest department to capture the crocodile, but it never happened. Also, many boats passed through this river to reach Chilika Lake. They stopped going due to fear of crocodile.

Now finding no other option, the fishermen decided to catch the crocodile themselves. They spread the net and the crocodile was trapped, which was captured from Daya River in Chupurungi in Kanas region.

The fishermen have expressed regret that even after catching the crocodile themselves, the forest department did not pay attention to the incident.
