Watervliet Township, MI, USA - October 10, 2024

This is the moment an 11-year-old dog trapped in a gas line hole is rescued by Michigan State Police.

The footage shows the dog, Sophie, apparently a German Shepherd, stuck firmly in the hole with only her front paws and her head sticking out.

The officer retrieves a harness from his vehicle and with the help of the dog's owner, manages to pull her out of the hole unharmed.

The images were obtained from the Michigan State Police on 18th October, along with a statement saying that their number one goal was to protect and serve the entire community, adding that this included both "our beloved residents or their precious furry family members."

They said that 11-year-old Sophie and her owner were relieved when officer Justin Van Nuil helped rescue the trapped dog on Thursday, on 10th October at around 10 p.m. in Berrien County.
