A dramatic and dangerous chase unfolded early Saturday when 42-year-old Gregory Ivory, a California man, allegedly led officers on a wild pursuit through north Columbus, crashing a semitrailer into a police cruiser and multiple cars, with the truck catching fire.

The incident began around 3:30 a.m. after reports of a semi striking a building in the 1600 block of Karl Court and fleeing the scene. Ivory, also suspected of brandishing a handgun, refused to stop when officers attempted a traffic stop at Karl and East Dublin Granville roads.

Dashcam footage captured the semi barreling down the middle of the road, sparks flying as it bounced over a roundabout. The chase took a dangerous turn when the truck caught fire, adding to the chaos. At one point, Ivory backed toward a police cruiser, hit another car on the road, and then turned left at Karl and Schrock roads, crashing directly into the cruiser, injuring the officer's wrist.

The pursuit continued with the semi backing up on a bridge, forcing a cruiser to swerve over the median. The chase finally ended at North High Street and North Broadway, where Ivory abandoned the burning truck and attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended shortly afterward on Clinton Heights Avenue.

Ivory is facing charges of felonious assault and felonious assault on a police officer, with bond set at $250,000.
