A Chinese tourist with a ring stuck on his swollen finger was rescued in Pattaya, Thailand.

The male holidaymaker, believed to be around 25 years old, arrived at the Pattaya City Fire Station asking for help to remove the jewellery from his distended left index finger on October 24 morning.

Firefighters called Sawang Boriboon Foundation volunteers, who brought specialised tools to cut the silver ring.

Footage shows the rescue team dousing the swollen finger with water, before sawing through the accessory with a handheld circular cutter.

They safely removed the ring and returned it to the Chinese man.

He said he had been wearing the ring for around a week, but found it was stuck when he tried to remove it.

He said: 'I would like to thank the rescue workers for their kindness.'
