Police arrested a gang living the high life in Thailand while allegedly operating Nigerian romance scams.

Officers stormed a condominium reportedly used as a fraud hub in Nonthaburi province, on the outskirts of Bangkok, on January 19.

Dramatic bodycam footage shows cops chasing down one of the suspects through the car park of the Popular Condo.

More police then swept into the property, where they found several Nigerian and Cote d'Ivoire nationals huddled around computers. Thirty-four pieces of equipment, including phones and desktop computers allegedly linked to the scam were seized.

Pictures seized from the group showed them partying on yachts while drinking whiskey and other images showed them eating at upmarket restaurants and in nightclubs.

Authorities said 13 people were arrested. They were named as Ihechukwu Kingsley, 26, Victor Uche, 26, Godspower Okechukwu, 20, Michael Chidiebere Okwuobasi, 31, Nwagha Tochukwu Samuel, 19, Amaefule Lucky Chukwuemeka, 25, Enwerem Ninamdi Salesitine, 49, Osigwelem Ifeanyi Prosper, 20, Ernest Okafor, 29, and Amabuo Henry, 41.

They were charged with overstaying and illegal entry.

The Immigration Bureau said the arrests stemmed from a complaint filed by a Thai woman at Mueang Nong Khai station.

The victim claimed she was deceived by a catfishing account posing as a wealthy Chinese engineer named Bingwen Fu, who said he wanted to marry her.

She said she 'fell in love' with the fake account and was tricked into sending him two million baht (47,544 GBP) to fund an incomplete construction project. She later filed a report when the man suddenly ghosted her upon receiving the money.

Authorities traced the transactions to the African gang that ran an organised operation, with some tasked to seduce victims online, withdraw money, and secure mule bank accounts.

Police said the group communicated through the Telegram application, through which they warned each other of impending police inspections.

The alleged fraudsters allegedly admitted to posing as 'wealthy and attractive singles from Europe and Asia' to deceive their victims. They would then launder the funds through cryptocurrency before sending them to Nigeria.

Some of them had Thai girlfriends, whom they reportedly deceived into becoming mule account holders.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ithithorn Prasertsak of Immigration Division 3 said: ‘We are expanding our investigation to other suspects.

‘We are also sending seized communication devices to the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau for thorough inspection to find evidence to arrest the entire network.'

The raid came as police in Bangkok launched several crackdowns on African men and women working in the sex industry and supplying drugs to tourists in the bustling Sukhumvit Road nightlife strip.

In October last year, police disguised as builders pounced on a group of African men who were dealing drugs just a few streets away from where Joshua was found dead.

Dramatic footage showed the suspected drug dealers scattering in different directions, with one even leaping over a motorcycle, as they tried to run away from officers.

Authorities from the Narcotics Suppression Bureau and Metropolitan Police Bureau said that eight Nigerians and a Thai man were arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning as part of what they called 'Operation Take Down Black-Shadow Nana'.

Police seized from them 0.14 ounces (4 grams) of cocaine wrapped in black duct tape, and 11 mobile phones containing transaction information. They were waiting for the suspects to empty their bowels, believing they had swallowed more narcotics.
