Daredevils surf down 800metre tall volcanos with some reaching speeds of up to 101km/h.

Travellers to Nicaragua can take advantage of the country’s unique landscape by speeding down their famous black sand mountains.

Visitors to Bigfoot Hostel can sit atop a toboggan and slide feet first down the hills, with some reaching speeds faster than 101km/h (62mph).

Cadi Melo, from Bigfoot Hostel, said: “The slopes are 800 meters tall and the record speed is 101km/h (62mph).

“A traveller once said to us ‘it is like sex for the first time: it ends in less than a minute and you do not know what to do’.

“But being honest it is one of a lifetime experience as you are sliding an active volcano using a toboggan board.

“It feels like going back to your childhood where you do all types of crazy stuff without caring about the result.”
