An eagle stole a golfer’s ball off a green and flew off with it.

Ray Ambrosio was enjoying a round at Glen Oaks Club, New York, USA, on April 15 when he faced an unusual hazard into one of the holes.

Funny footage captured the moment an eagle flew towards the golf professional’s chip and gripped the ball in its talon.

Ray could only watch on as the eagle first hopped and then flew off while holding his ball.

Ray said: “We were all baffled. This has never happened to me before and I’ve been golfing for about 10 years.

“After I saw that it wasn’t giving up the ball I jogged over to see if it would leave it alone and fly away.

“We actually expected the eagle to fly away at some point, because I didn’t want to chip with him right there but also didn’t want to approach it.

“I wasn’t sure what to think in the moment as my bird knowledge is limited.”
