US: Chinese films receive more positive reviews from global peers
Las Vegas, United States - November 10, 2024 Chinese films and film market are gaining more positive feedbacks and attentions from global film industry including that in the United States after a slate of high-quality works were displayed at the 45th American Film Market (AFM) held in Las Vegas on Nov. 5-10, 2024. The AFM is a key global film trading market, gathering thousands of professionals from over 80 countries for copyright trading, screenings, and forums. A total of 201 film projects from 55 Chinese high-quality film institutions presented at the China Film Joint Pavilion on the sidelines of the event has attracted attention of many insiders. It marks the second year that the China Film Joint Pavilion has participated in the AFM. This year's film projects, such as the dance film "A Tapestry of a Legendary Land", showcase the excellence of traditional Chinese culture and aesthetics as well as China's reality. Fu Ruoqing, chairman of the China Film Group Corporation, said that during the event, six major North American film companies, including 20th Century Studios, Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Disney Movies and Paramount Pictures, showed interest and intention to cooperation in Chinese film distribution, which reflects the international film market's recognition of the quality of Chinese films. It shows richer and more three-dimensional modern landscapes of China, receiving widespread attention from the American market. The film was shot with 18 8K movie cameras, and modern film methods, such as special effects in post-production, were used for second creation to restore the sound and image effects of the original stage performance. According to Hollywood professionals, China's rich cultural heritage provides filmmakers with larger creative space, allowing those movie makers to create films that can resonate globally. George Eyles, executive vice president of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, lauded China's great potential as the world's second largest movie market. Shotlist: Las Vegas, USA - Nov 5-10, 2024: 1.
