Man, 30, with breast tissue equivalent to women's D cup undergoes surgery in China
A 30-year-old man from Wuhan, Hubei, Mr. Hu, has struggled with an unusually large chest since middle school, forcing him to wear loose-fitting clothes to hide his condition.
Mr. Hu first noticed during middle school that his chest was much larger than that of his peers. Initially, neither he nor his family paid much attention to it, but as he grew older, the size became excessive. Seeking relief, he turned to doctors for help.
Dr. Guo Liang, head of the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department at Wuhan University Zhongnan Hospital, explained:
*"When we examined him, we found that his chest had reached a size comparable to a female C to D cup. This posed significant challenges for him in daily life. For example, he couldn’t wear fitted clothes during the summer and had to opt for extremely loose outfits—often layering two garments to hide his chest."*
A series of tests, including pituitary MRI and hormonal profiling, revealed that Mr. Hu had a pituitary tumor. This condition caused elevated estrogen levels in his body, leading to abnormal chest development and other feminine characteristics.
To address the issue, doctors adopted a dual approach:
- **Medication** to regulate estrogen levels.
- **Surgical intervention** to remove the excess breast tissue.
The surgery, which lasted nearly three hours, successfully excised the glandular tissue from both sides of his chest.
Following treatment, Mr. Hu's chest has returned to a normal male appearance. He expressed immense satisfaction with the results and thanked the doctors for helping him overcome the burden that had shadowed him for years.
