Baby goat with 'alien face' bemuses locals in India
A baby goat with a strange alien-like appearance caused bemused locals in a village in India.
The kid was born to a healthy mother in farmer Kalu Banana Wala's home in Madhya Pradesh, on November 24 afternoon.
It has a large bulge on its forehead about half the size of its head, with two eyeballs squeezed into one socket.
Footage shows the juvenile goat shrieking high-pitched cries while being held by Kalu Banana. It has a severe underbite, and its tongue sticks out of the side of its mouth.
Its fur was milky white with ears drooping backwards, but even more bizarrely, it did not have a nose.
Kalu Banana said: 'Many people have come to my house ever since. They want to hold my goat, take pictures, and record videos. They say it looks like an alien.'
A veterinarian who checked the goat's health said: 'We can hope for the best, but it might not survive for long.'
Cyclopia in goats, where two eyeballs are present but within a single orbital cavity, is an extreme form of congenital craniofacial malformation. This specific condition is still considered a variant of cyclopia because it involves a single eye socket.
