The child carried only a piece of paper with a name and phone number, explaining that her parents are already in the U.S. The group included 60 unaccompanied minors, aged 2 to 17, and six individuals flagged as special interest immigrants from Mali and Angola. The discovery highlights the dangerous reality of criminal trafficking networks exploiting children across the U.S. southern border. With record numbers of unaccompanied minors and countless others missing, DPS officials emphasize the urgent need to safeguard these vulnerable children. Under #OperationLoneStar, over 900 children have been rescued from abandonment and smuggling operations. “This is a stark example of the perilous journey these children endure,” DPS stated. “Regardless of politics, no child should be subjected to such risks.”
