Playful shop 'cooks' toy that mimics street food

An employee dressed in traditional Hanfu robes prepares Roujiamo, a popular street food burger, in the form of a toy in front of customers every time they buy a plushie.

A stuffed toy brand came up with a clever idea to offer shoppers a playful experience by 'cooking' their purchased plushies in Shaanxi, China.

Footage shows the staff using a plastic toy butcher's knife to cut the meat of the Roujiamo and even imaginatively adding sauce while engaging in conversation with customers, asking how they prefer the 'snack' to be made on June 6.

She even asked if they liked the meat to be soft or crunchy.

The employee then placed the circular brown toy inside the cut bread plushie and served the palm-sized stuffed toy in a brown cloth wrap.

Local reports said that nearly 400 plushies were sold on day one of a recent Expo in Shanghai, priced at 49 Chinese yuan (approximately 5.39 GBP) each.

The plushies were reported to be from Jellycat, a British soft toy and home decor company.

ROMOMO founder Zhang Bo said he wants his customers to 'be a kid again' while promoting Chinese food culture globally.

Statistics from Daxiang Culture and Technology Company revealed that more than 200,000 ROMOMO toys have been sold since their release in June, with orders coming from souvenir shops, online platforms, and even clients overseas.
