China: China's used vehicle exports gaining traction
China - December 06, 2024 China's used vehicle exports gaining traction (Voice_over) China is exporting more used cars than ever thanks to vehicle trade-in incentives that are boosting new car sales in the country. According to recent data from the China Automobile Dealers Association, the country exported 270,000 used vehicles last year, with that number expected to hit 400,000 units by the end of this year. China started exporting second-hand cars in May of 2019, with Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin among the first batch of ten cities allowed to do so. Since then, the export volume of China's used car exports has continued to grow each year. (Sound_bite) Wang Du, Vice president, China Automobile Dealers Association: "The second-hand car market is now a shining point, and its export volume is growing year by year. China is exporting second-hand cars to over 160 countries and regions. The second-hand car brands that China is exporting are gradually establishing brand images in international second-hand car markets." (Voice_over) Officials from the French intergovernmental group, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, say China's used car exports could total upwards of eight million vehicles annually in the next decade.
