Pelican tries to swallow child's head at zoo in China
This is the hilarious moment a pelican tried to swallow a child's head at a zoo in China.
The toddler approached the bird perched on a guard rail when it grabbed his scalp in Sichuan, on December 3.
Footage shows the feathered creature suddenly clamping its wide beak around the tot's head.
This prompted the seemingly shocked toddler to walk away while touching his hair.
The mother said: 'It was so funny because of his reaction, but he was okay; he was not hurt.'
Pelicans are naturally curious and playful animals. They are known to be opportunistic feeders and will attempt to eat almost anything, sometimes even animals larger than themselves.
