This is the dramatic moment a hero neighbour rescued a toddler who was dangling from an eighth-floor balcony in China.

Huang Xingjie saved the four-year-old girl who was hanging from a window guard railing in Wuzhou, Guangxi, on December 12.

Footage shows the child swaying mid-air, attempting to climb back inside by stepping onto a narrow edge with her legs.

Moments later, the brave man, without any safety gear, carefully climbed down from the ninth floor of the apartment building toward the child.

He then grasped the girl's legs and gently pushed her inside the balcony.

Local media reported that the child did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.

The community recognized Huang's bravery, presenting him with flowers and gifts as thanks for his selfless act in saving the child.

Personal Injury Lawyers Kane and Silverman from the US said that over 684,000 fatal falls occur each year globally.

'Many children can also get hurt from an improperly constructed balcony,' they added.
