This is the dramatic moment police intercepted a narco jet loaded with drugs in Brazil.

Footage shows the plane landing at a private runway near the Penapolis airport in Sao Paulo state on December 16.

Upon spotting the military Aguia helicopter overhead, the pilot tried to take off again but was blocked by the authorities.

The pilot, 33, and his passenger, 45, emerged from the cabin and surrendered themselves to the officers. A car was also near the runway to pick up the drugs, but the driver had fled when police descended.

The suspects were hauled to the Federal Police headquarters in Aracatuba City, where the narcotics investigation was ongoing.

The Military Police said the jet had departed from Mato Grosso do Sul state carrying 400 bricks of cocaine base paste.

Guilherme Derrite, Sao Paulo Secretary of Public Security, said in a statement: 'Another major loss to drug trafficking. Whether by road or air, Sao Paulo will no longer be a route for the flow of drugs.

' We will no longer be a route for illegal activity that encourages crime. Congratulations to the police.'
