This is the impressive moment an agile kitten squeezed through a narrow door gap.

The determined orange feline used its strength and flexibility to sneak out of the house in Shanghai, China, on December 6.

Footage captured by the pet owner, Mr Chen, shows the furry creature pawing at the glass door to slide its head through before pushing its whole body outside.

After a laborious effort to squeeze through the doorway, the animal successfully made it out of the room, leaving one of its grey feline companions looking confused about what had just happened.

Cats have more vertebrae than humans, and the vertebrae are connected by elastic discs. This allows cats to rotate their bodies up to 180 degrees, and to stretch into long positions. Their spines also help them maintain balance when leaping, landing, and changing direction quickly.
