Mechanic almost loses his arm when tyre explodes in garage
This is the shocking moment a mechanic almost lost his arm when a tyre exploded in a garage.
The worker sustained a fractured arm while vulcanising the huge wheel truck at Neng Tire Shop in Chaiyaphum, Thailand, on December 24 at 4:36 pm.
CCTV footage shows the repairman filling the tyre with gas when the tyre exploded.
The employee can be seen walking out of the shop holding his arm.
A neighbour reportedly rushed to his aid and took him to Ban Khwao Hospital for treatment.
The shop owner, Phonthip Vongprajun, said: 'We decided to close the shop for several days due to the incident.
'Thankfully, the injury was not life-threatening, and my employee is currently recovering,' she added.
Possible causes of a tyre explosion during repair work include overinflation, using damaged or faulty equipment, improper handling of the tyre, or a defective valve or rim that causes excessive pressure to build up.
