India: At least 20 injured after elephant runs amok at festival in India

Tirur, India - January 08, 2025 Two dozen people were injured, two of them seriously, when an elephant ran amok during the BP Angadi Nercha at Tirur in Malappuram, Kerala, around 1 a.m. on Wednesday (January 8, 2025). Several people were injured after an elephant trampled them during a religious ceremony in Tirur's Puthiyangadi. The elephant named Pakkam Sreekuttan trampled them. The enraged elephant threw a person over. The person was seriously injured. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital. 20 people have been injured. The incident during the closing ceremony of the vow. Several people were injured in the stampede that ensued after the elephant was stopped. Finally, the elephant's handler intervened and stopped the elephant, a major accident was averted. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals.
