Stray firework flies into dry-cleaning shop burning clothes and startling staff
On the evening of January 1, an unexpected incident occurred at a dry-cleaning shop on Wenhua Road, Cili County, Zhangjiajie City, Hunan. A firework launched from a nearby square accidentally shot into the shop, damaging customer garments being sorted inside.
According to the shop owner, Ms. Wang, the firework suddenly flew across the street, whistling into the shop and exploding inside. The blast burned holes in four customer garments, each valued at over 1,000 yuan, with a total loss exceeding 4,000 yuan.
After the incident, Ms. Wang called the police and reviewed the shop’s surveillance footage. However, due to poor lighting and obstructing trees, authorities were unable to identify the person responsible for setting off the fireworks.
Ms. Wang expressed concern that if the culprit cannot be identified, she may have to personally compensate the customers for the damage.
