Senegal should look to China as a model of development, a Senegalese official has said.
China is "the best country for Senegal to emulate" and offers opportunities for cooperation, said Maison de la Presse (Senegal's press house) director general Sambou Biagui in a recent interview with Xinhua.
Suggesting agriculture as a starting point, Biagui stressed the need for Senegal to cooperate with China and seize the opportunity for genuine development.

"China is a tangible example of development worldwide. China's agricultural success is a cornerstone of its development and directly impacts people's livelihoods. In Senegal, we aim to develop agriculture as a foundation for our progress. The land is fertile, water is available, and there is enough space for cultivation. It is obvious that we can succeed in this area. Today, China offers Senegal an opportunity to advance agriculture, an essential area of focus."
Specifically, the identified areas of cooperation with China should enable Senegal to develop its textile and cotton sectors while locally producing and processing peanuts, oil and gas, Biagui added.
