Los Angeles, United States - January 12, 2025 01/12/2025 03:03 am (GMT-0800) CENTRAL-ALAMEDA, LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Fire Department crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire just after 3 a.m. Sunday morning in the 1700 block of East Vernon Avenue in the Central-Alameda neighborhood of Los Angeles. Arriving firefighters found heavy fire in the middle unit of a one-story, 50' x 200'strip mall. Firefighters immediately fought the flames in defensive mode with a request for additional resources. Flames were through the roof, and crews worked to defend the exposed adjoining unit. Ultimately, the roof collapsed over the original fire unit. Knockdown was achieved at 4:18 a.m. with over 80 firefighters at the scene, according to LAFD Spokesperson Margaret Stewart.
