A repairman needed rescuing after he fell into a water tank he was fixing in Thailand.

The technician was replacing the 500-litre tank's water pump but found himself stuck inside the container at a home in Nakhon Ratchasima province, on January 14.

He tried to drag himself up, but the walls were too steep and slippery. The residents called a rescue team upon hearing his screams for help.

Footage shows officers climbing a stepladder and pulling up the repairman with his torso stuck in the opening of the water tank. He was seen sighing in relief upon being freed.

He said: 'The water pump float inside the water tank was broken, so I went inside to fix it. After finishing, I couldn't leave the water tank because the inside was quite slippery.

'I couldn't ask the people in the house because they were all children or old people. I tried my best to free myself but eventually a rescue team had to be called.'
