Lottery winner, 83, mugged just minutes after claiming her prize
This is the shocking moment an elderly lottery winner was mugged just minutes after claiming her prize.
The pensioner, 83, had collected her winnings from a store when she was attacked by the suspect named Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury at a car park in Orlando, Florida, on January 15.
CCTV footage shows the woman opening her car before being approached by Diego, seen in the video wearing a red jacket. The suspect tried to swipe her money when a store owner arrived to intervene.
But the alleged thief was undeterred. He dragged the hapless victim away from her car and prised some 200 USD of lottery winnings out of her hands before running away.
The Orange County Sheriff's Office said Diego was arrested the next day, January 16. They said on their Facebook page: 'Thanks to the help of our community, Tavarez Fleury has been caught and is in jail.'
Police said Diego was nabbed on a warrant for robbery, sudden snatching and battery on a person 65 or older.
